Over 100 million Americans have a loved one touched by alcohol or drug abuse and nearly all cases of addiction and dependence . begin with teenage or pre-teen drug use. Teenage drug and alcohol abuse doesn't discriminate; it can happen to anyone anywhere -- even a child in the most loving home. However, research has shown that the fear of upsetting their parents or caregivers is one of the major reasons why kids choose not to use drugs, and kids who learn a lot about drug risks from their parents are up to half as likely to start using.

Parents can help prevent teenage drug and alcohol abuse by openly discussing the dangers of substance abuse with their kids, setting clear and consistent expectations for their children’s behavior, and providing support and reassurance during the formative teenage years.

Time To Talk provides tools to help parents engage in an ongoing dialogue with their teens about living healthy lives free of alcohol and drugs. Below you'll find the recent news releases and our PSA campaign.
